The end of days...at GDI
At last - my final day at GDI has arrived. This week has been nothing like I expected a last week to be... perhaps I was naive or employed my own brand of wishful thinking, but I anticipated far less stress during my last days. Stress which was all compounded yesterday when my computer refused to boot up, and a dead/dying harddrive was to blame. So today there's twice as much to do, and since my replacement is also my good friend, the pressure's on to make sure she's prepared to take over on Monday.
So. I'm leaving New Jersey in 10 days. 10 teensy days! The countdown can officially begin... to my nervous breakdown. With all the work and social obligations over the past couple of weeks, I have gotten literally NOTHING done in preparation of moving. Luckily, I projected this state of affairs, and have arranged to have all of next week "off." Off of work, but wickedly busy with everything else. I have an eye exam, doctor's appointment, packing, donating, shipping, cleaning, sleeping and eating to do. Plus - all the sad goodbyes. I'd really rather there be no goodbyes than have them delivered with remorse. Mostly because I feel guilty for leaving all my wonderful friends here and globetrotting away -- but as Clint Black will tell you, "I can't leave you with a bad goodbye."
30 minutes to go - between this paragraph and the last, John, Leigh (friend and replacement) and I had a 3 hour lunch... appetizers to desserts, complete with wine and coffees. So now there's only half an hour left of my last work day in Randolph, and I've got to finish my prep for Leigh.
